Chamber and business leaders make annual visit to U.S. Capital

Citizens for Space Exploration (CFSE), a grassroots committee of the Cocoa Beach Area Chamber of Commerce comprised of aerospace companies, area businesses, students and community leaders met with several U.S. House and Senate members and their staff to advocate for continued investment in space research and exploration during their annual trip to the nation’s capital May 19-22, 2008.

CFSE works in a collaborative effort with regions across the U.S. that have a similar interest in maintaining and expanding their roles in the development of new modes of space transportation, launch capabilities, research, experimentation and exploration.

Working in teams during their visit, the committee met with legislators who have influence in the direction and funding of the nation’s space program.  They also met with all members of Congress to stress the importance of the space program. Florida’s delegation, including House members Tom Feeney and Dave Weldon, and Senator Bill Nelson enthusiastically welcomed the Space Coast contingent and offered their continued support.
